Aftercare Club Support Teacher | 2025-26 School Year

Introduction

River Valley Waldorf School is seeking an experienced educator to support students through a mixed-aged afternoon session. Candidates for this position must demonstrate the capacity to lead a mixed-age class of children with skill, warmth, and good humor in the classroom space and surrounding forest areas in all seasons and weather. The ideal candidate must also be willing to commit to the on-going work of diversity, equity, and inclusion and have familiarity or interest in best practices of Waldorf Education.

General Description

  • Harmoniously work alongside a Lead Teacher to provide kind and supportive care to students attending aftercare sessions in a safe indoor and outdoor environment.
  • Transition students to aftercare sessions and independently lead and safely manage a group of students within the range of early childhood through 8th grade; ages 3-14
  • Support students in being their best selves and model behavior for students in alignment with Waldorf pedagogy through various elements of engagement; i.e. transitions, playing, doing homework, and socializing
  • Support of students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges
  • Regularly communicate observations with faculty to create a shared student contemplation
  • Ability to warmly and effectively communicate to caregivers
  • Return environment to a welcoming morning space

Hours & Compensation

This Monday-Friday, part-time position is paid $17/hour, less school calendar breaks and snow/emergency days. Expected hours for attendance are 3:15pm-5:30pm.

Required training obtained during employment may include:

  • CPR and First Aid
  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Stewards of Children – Darkness to Light
  • Racial Equity: Anti-bias Training

The 7-acres of River Valley Waldorf School sits on forested hills that overlook the Delaware River on unceded Lenni-Lenape land. We are so grateful for the First Nations people’s reverent caretaking of the land we now call Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania. Upper Black Eddy is located in Bucks County and only 40-60 minutes from major metropolitan areas. Our programs include a caretaker-child program, mixed-age early childhood classes, and grades one through eight.
